For Aquaponics, a geyser airlift subsitutes the need for a water pump, which tends to get clogged up and malfunction. Using just an air pump, which is much less prone to malfunction, water is moved throughout the airlift which oxyenates the water throughout the system during the process. In developing countries where water pumps are difficult to obtain, this solution is very promising.
